The Community Arts Project (CAP) was founded in 1988. Our mission is to create environments that enable people to freely explore healthy avenues of learning and expression in the arts, believing that this enriches the lives of all who live and work in our north Oregon Coast communities.

Every summer since 1995, CAP has presented its children’s art program, Slug Soup. In 2002, funded by a three-year start-up grant from a local foundation, CAP initiated its Art Literacy program at Nestucca Valley Elementary School. A second Art Literacy program was begun in 2005 at Garibaldi Grade School.

CAP’s programs have gained enthusiastic support from students, teachers, administrators, parents, community members and local businesses. Our CAP fundraising events spotlight the arts and are well-attended. We are an active and viable non-profit organization with a very successful record of providing meaningful and enjoyable art experiences for people of all ages.

Give to CAP When You Shop at Fred Meyer

It’s Fred Meyer’s new Community Rewards Program and this is how it works: Link your Fred Meyer rewards card to Community Arts Project at www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards. When you use your rewards card, a donation based on the sale amount will be made by Fred Meyer to CAP. It’s anonymous and does not affect the rewards points, fuel points, or rebates that you earn for yourself. It’s just another generous way that Fred Meyer is supporting our community.
